Open-air pool at altitude

The Atalaya pool is built into the rock at the foot of the medieval tower. Its south-facing terrace overlooks the entire village. The morning and evening sunlight creates beautiful color variations in the sky. You can swim surrounded by mountains or simply relax on a deck chair…

The water, treated with salt, is slightly heated to 22°C if necessary after the coolness of the night.

Cerdagne, a high-altitude plateau in the Eastern Pyrenees, is a land of sunshine with nearly 2,400 hours of sunlight per year—one of the highest rates in France.

Water, a precious resource

A rainwater recovery system helps to minimize the use of the distribution network.
Indeed, the Pyrénées-Orientales is one of the driest departments in France. In the summer of 2025, Cerdagne and Capcir are under “drought alert”.

Pool opening conditions

The pool is open from June to September, when the sun helps keep the water at a pleasant temperature…
During the opening periods, guests of the different Atalaya cottages can access the pool terrace, which is secured.
The pool’s opening depends on the absence of a prefectural ban in case of severe drought. This has not happened so far.

The Atalaya cottages

Atalaya was built around a large traditional village house. The former hotel-restaurant from the 1970s, once renowned throughout the region, was transformed into cottages and guest rooms in the 1990s. It was in this form that we first discovered this beautiful residence before its owner—who had imagined, built, decorated, expanded, transformed, and managed it for 50 years—entrusted it to us upon her retirement.
Since 2020, we have undertaken modernization and energy efficiency improvements. We are gradually renovating the property while preserving its original charm and spirit, using quality materials, refined decoration, and complete amenities to ensure a peaceful and rejuvenating stay.

Maître de Cabestany

The name of this cottage comes from a famous yet anonymous 12th-century sculptor, known as the Maître de Cabestany. Many of his attributed works are found in the Pyrénées-Orientales and in Catalonia, Spain. A museum dedicated to him is located in Cabestany, near Perpignan.

Rated 4 ears by Gîtes de France, it is overlooked by the medieval watchtower, the Atalaya — the place from which one sees.
