Who are we?

After spending several summers as a family in this large house, we took over Atalaya in 2021 from Mrs. Toussaint, who wished to rest and retire.

Together with her husband and children, she transformed an old village house in the 1970s into a hotel-restaurant with regional renown. The property was later converted into guest rooms and cottages around 2010.

Now it’s our turn to take care of the spirit of this place, still as a family.

Getting here

By road

Avoid driving through the village, which has very narrow and steep streets where it is difficult for cars to pass each other.

When coming down from Eyne via the D33 and before seeing the “LLO” sign, turn left onto Carrer de Cerdanya, direction Atalaya. Be careful, this is a hairpin turn.
When coming up from Saillagouse via the D33, beware of GPS directions. After entering LLO and passing the LLO baths and the church, do not take Carrer de Cerdanya towards “Le village”. Stay on the D33, continue until you pass the exit sign for LLO, then take Carrer de Cerdanya on your right to drive back down towards the village.
Atalaya is located 400 meters ahead.
We reserve 2 parking spaces per large cottage.

House rules

We have established a few rules to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the premises, maintain the best possible service in respect of future guests, and preserve the quality of the equipment made available to you.

Furthermore, the peace and quiet sought by the residents of this village, whether visiting or living here, must be respected for everyone’s enjoyment!

Facilities and information

We take great care to provide all the comfort and equipment necessary for a relaxing and pleasant family stay, including your pets. Everything you might need for young children and cooking — from the baby bed to baking dishes — is available in the cottage. Two parking spaces per large cottage are reserved for you, and the pool awaits you during the summer season.

Babies and children

For babies:

Travel cot with sheets, duvet, pillow, and suitable linen.
Changing mat.
Baby towel, bathtub with newborn insert.
High chair.

For young children:

Bed rail and booster seat for children up to 3–4 years old.
Small melamine plates.
Toilet reducer and potty.
Indoor stairs are secured.

These items are provided free of charge and will be prepared before your arrival.

Pets

Small dogs and cats are welcome. We accept up to 2 pets in the large cottages Maître de Cabestany and Montserrat Figueras, and 1 pet in the cottage La Maison du Berger.
Their stay is subject to our welcome policy (see the house rules). Please note that the outdoor spaces are terraces and there is no garden.

No breakfast or guest table

We are not a bed and breakfast, so we do not offer breakfast or guest meals.

Coffee machine

The kitchen includes a pod coffee maker (Senseo type), a classic filter coffee maker — filters are provided — and a French press that can also be used as a teapot.

Kitchen and appliances

Food lovers and home cooks will find everything they need to prepare their favorite dishes!

Microwave, oven, plancha grill, raclette and fondue machines.
Pod coffee maker (Senseo type), filter coffee maker, and French press.
Electric kettle, toaster, small blender.
Various cooking dishes and utensils.
Cutlery, crockery, water, wine, and champagne glasses…

Other appliances:

Refrigerator with small freezer.
Dishwasher.
Washing machine.

Shops

Many quality shops surround Llo. The nearest ones are in Saillagouse, Llivia, and Bourg-Madame. There are no shops directly in the village of Llo.

The welcome booklet lists nearby stores where you can find local and high-quality products.

Fondue and raclette sets

The cheesemongers of Bourg-Madame, Llivia, or Font-Romeu will be happy to advise you on cheese selections to bring back to the cottage and enjoy with our fondue and raclette sets.

Restaurant in LLO

We warmly recommend the restaurant Le Jardin d’Alione, located just a 3-minute walk from Atalaya. Everything is homemade, with many ingredients grown in the nearby garden, depending on the season. The terrace overlooks the slate rooftops of the village and the Cerdagne valley, offering magnificent sunsets. Be sure to book a few days in advance — the place fills up quickly!

Plancha – No BBQ

Each cottage has an electric plancha grill.
There is no large barbecue.

Household linen

All household linen is provided: bed linen (sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers), bath linen (one large and one small towel per person), and kitchen linen (tea towels, apron).

An additional towel is available for the pool or the LLO baths so you don’t use your bath towel for that purpose. We offer to change the linen once a week.

Toiletries

We provide a small soap in the bathrooms.

However, we do not offer other toiletry products, which are usually single-use and often wrapped in plastic.

WiFi

Each cottage has WiFi: fiber at Montserrat Figueras and 4G at Maître de Cabestany.

However, the place invites disconnection… Conversely, we can turn off the WiFi in each cottage if you wish 😉 We offer books or board games instead!

Terrace

Each cottage has its own outdoor terrace with a table, chairs, and deckchairs, but there is no garden… Nature is just around the corner! A play area for children with a swing and slide is set up in the village on the way to the LLO baths.

Summer pool

The pool is open from June to September. It measures about 30 m². Parasols and deckchairs are set up all around. It is heated if necessary to 22°C, but in summer the temperature is usually higher.

Please note that Cerdagne has been under drought alert for several years, and the pool’s opening each year depends on the absence of a prefectural ban.

Limited parking

Atalaya has a private covered parking area (not closed) that can accommodate up to 2 cars for the large cottages and 1 car for the small one.
This parking space is carved into the rock and cannot be expanded! If you have more than 2 vehicles, you may need to park further down in the village, in the public parking areas near the Town Hall or next to the LLO baths.

Electric car charging station

The cottage parking area is not equipped with a charging station. A few kilometers away, the nearest charging points are located in Saillagouse, Bourg-Madame, Bolquère, Ur, and Eyne.

Train stations

The nearest train station is in Latour-de-Carol, 18 km away. It is a unique railway station with three track gauges: French, Spanish, and for the Petit Train Jaune!

Trains connect Paris via Toulouse by TGV, then to Latour-de-Carol by TER.
A night train — with seats or sleeping berths — connects Paris directly to Latour-de-Carol without transfers. More frequent night trains stop in Toulouse, then continue by TER to Latour-de-Carol.
The Rodalies de Catalunya trains connect Barcelona to Latour-de-Carol several times a day.
For the more adventurous, the Petit Train Jaune takes you to Saillagouse in season, passing through Perpignan and Villefranche-de-Conflent. Otherwise, there’s the bus — but be sure to check the schedules!

Airports

The three nearest airports are:

Perpignan,
Toulouse,
Barcelona.

You’ll find car rentals at the airports, as well as train connections.

One of our guests once had serious trouble dealing with a rental car breakdown from Barcelona… So if you can choose, we recommend arriving via Perpignan or Toulouse instead.
